This policy explains what information Goal Buddy collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Goal Buddy is an accountability partner app that matches you one on one with another person working toward the same goal, so protecting the information exchanged in that match matters a great deal to us.
Information we collect
- Account information: email address, password, and optional social login details.
- Profile information: goal, motivation, availability, experience level, and communication style from the onboarding questionnaire.
- Activity information: messages with your matched partner, checkin entries, challenge and milestone progress, and Red Button alerts.
- Technical information: device type, browser, and general usage data used to keep the app secure and reliable.
How we use your information
- To create your profile card and match you with an accountability partner.
- To power in app messaging, checkins, challenges, and the Red Button alert.
- To send verification emails and important account notifications.
- To detect abuse, enforce rate limits on the Red Button, and support report and block requests.
Who can see your information
Your profile card is visible to other users browsing open goals. Messages, checkins, and Red Button alerts inside a partnership are private and visible only to you and your matched partner.
Data retention and deletion
You can view, edit, and delete your own data at any time from your account settings. If you delete your account, your profile, messages, and checkin history are removed within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain limited records for safety or legal reasons.

Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access to private conversations is restricted to the matched pair. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.
