Getting started
What is Goal Buddy?
Goal Buddy matches you one on one with an accountability partner working toward the same goal. You post a goal, get matched, and check in together as you both work toward it.
How do I post a goal?
After you sign up and verify your email, you will complete a short onboarding questionnaire. That generates your profile card, and you can post your first goal right after.
Is Goal Buddy free?
Yes. Posting a goal, matching with one partner, in app messaging, checkins, and the Red Button are all free. Group partnerships are planned as a future paid tier.
Matching
How does matching work?
Goal Buddy surfaces open goals in the same category as yours. You can browse and request to connect, or someone else can request to connect with your goal. Matching is currently one on one, not group based.
Can I have more than one partner?
Not yet. The current version matches one active partner per goal. Group goals are planned for a future paid tier.
What if my partner stops responding?
You can end a partnership and rematch at any time from your dashboard. We are also building automated reminders and nudges to reduce ghosting.
Checkins, challenges, and the Red Button
What are checkins?
Recurring prompts where you and your partner log and share progress on your goal, so momentum does not quietly stall.
What is the Red Button?
An instant support alert you can send your partner when you are struggling. It is rate limited to prevent misuse and designed to feel reassuring, not alarming.
What are challenges?
Predefined templates grounded in behavioral science, like SMART goals and 21 day habit challenges, with milestone tracking built in.
Safety and account
How is my safety protected?
Email verification is required for every account. Report and block tools are available from any profile or conversation.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can view, edit, and delete your own data at any time from your account settings.
